A Summer at Belvedere: Salemme doubles with his show, “Every promise is a debt”, in San Leucio

By popular demand, Vincenzo Salemme is doubling the dates of his new show in Caserta , for the Un'Estate da Belvedere festival. The Neapolitan playwright, director and actor will stage “Ogni promessa è debito” on 24 and 25 July at the Belvedere in San Leucio , as part of the tenth edition of the festival produced and organized by Lwr Srl di Massimo Vecchione , with the artistic supervision of Vincenzo Berti and Gianluca Bonanno for Ventidieci and the patronage of the Municipality of Caserta .
Tickets to attend the new date on July 25 are already available for pre-sale on Ticketone and at authorized sales points.
“ Ogni promessa è debito ”, the new comedy written and directed by Vincenzo Salemme, intertwines humor and profound themes, confirming itself as one of the most anticipated shows on the theatrical scene.
The plot of the comedy revolves around Benedetto Croce , a middle-aged pizza chef from Bacoli, a widower and father of two children. During an adventure at sea with his loved ones, Benedetto finds himself in a desperate situation and, to save himself, makes a vow to Saint Anna, the patron saint of his town. The miracle happens: Benedetto and his family are saved, but this promise begins to affect his life. Back on dry land, he finds himself at the center of a whirlwind of requests from those who claim to benefit from the promised donation, including the local priest, the mayor and even some family members.
With his typical ironic approach, Salemme tells how the protagonist tries to juggle religious fanaticism, opportunism and family dynamics, while the tension builds until an unexpected twist involving the saint herself. The plot explores the delicate boundary between authentic faith and exploitation, between responsibility and the desire for freedom.
“Ogni Promessa è debito” is not only a brilliant comedy, but also an opportunity to reflect on crucial aspects of contemporary society . The story raises questions about the relationship between faith and pragmatism, about personal honesty and the weight of other people's expectations. Salemme, through surreal situations and colorful characters, stages the eternal struggle between moral duty and individual needs, between altruism and the subtle selfishness that often guides our choices.
This show by Vincenzo Salemme in Caserta is part of the program of the tenth edition of Un'Estate da Belvedere which this year will be held in two venues, both declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO .
